February 20: World Day of Social Justice

The World Day of Social Justice is held every February 20 as was declared by the United Nations General Assembly on 26 November 2007 with the purpose of promoting objectives and goals of the World Summit on Social Development.

Social justice is a fundamental principle for peaceful and prosperous, within and between nations coexistence. We uphold the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants. We promote social justice when we remove barriers that people face gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.

As it is celebrated?

It is a day in which thousands of people take to the streets of their cities and perform different activities so that social justice is applied in all parts of the world and all people have equal rights. Each and every one of these citizens are calling on the relevant authorities more involved in inequality plaguing increasingly weaker in the large increase in corruption, repression and lack of decent work. All these reasons are encouraging the public order and to demand greater social justice on this day.
